The island of the Giudecca is a tranquil place to stay if you want to escape the touristy centre of Venice. Away from the crowds, it is a great place to experience the real Venice and see how the locals live.

A 20 minute ride by Vaporetto (water bus) to Piazza San Marco. A great opportunity to see how modern Venice is still dependent on its historic waterways.

The apartment is situated on the island of the Giudecca and is only a few minutes walk from the Palanca/Giudecca vaporetto stop. A vaporetto runs every 10 minutes across the main Giudecca canal to the Zattere from which point all areas of the city can be reached on foot. There is now an all night vaporetto service.

It is a charming area full of local colour and out of the very touristy and noisy parts of the city with good restaurants, bars, food and wine shopping close by. Originally an area of market gardens and convents it has become more residential over the centuries. The Palladian church of the Redentore is close to the apartment.

We will advise you on how to best reach the apartment depending on how you are travelling to Venice. Air connections with Venice Marco Polo airport and Treviso airport (linked by shuttle bus) are now very good and as the water buses run all the time it is possible to arrive very late at the flat. Coming by train is another good option - Italian Railways operate an English language timetable online at .
